Wait List

I am happy to add you to my waiting list but please keep a few points in mind:

1. The waiting list is not a guarantee. It is first come first served and I will only contact you once when there are babies available. If you do not respond you will be removed from the waiting list.

2. I cannot guarantee any color, markings, or ear type will be available. I will mark down your preferences and let you know what I have available. If you want to wait for another litter that's okay and I can move you to the top of the list for the next litter.

3. You must make reasonable accommodations to pick up and pay for your rat(s) when they are ready to go to new homes. By this I mean that they must be picked up and paid for within 1 week of their ready date. Ready dates Vary between 5-6 weeks, depending on the litter and whether I feel they are ready or not so be prepared to bring them home at 5-6 weeks.

4. If my prices change after you were put on the wait list you will get the price they were when you went on the list.

5. If you do not show up for your meet and have not given me adequate notice that you can't make it, your reservation is forfeit and you may very likely be ineligible to adopt rats from me in the future depending on circumstances.

Please keep in mind that my waiting list is meant to be a convenience for my adopters but I don't breed for profit, or to sell rats. I breed for my own purposes and the rats available are a byproduct of that. I appreciate people being easy to work with because adoptions can be an amazing experience but too often are just an annoyance because so many people prove to be unreliable. I am not making money off of these rats and when I drive out of town to meet someone I am doing that at my own expense so please let me know if you can't make the meeting. I am happy to reschedule but I won't be inclined to go out of my way for the same person twice.

Adopting rats from me is pretty straightforward. I do not require an adoption application or contract. If you adopt a rat the assumption is that you will properly care for it just like any other pet. If you are unable to do so at anytime please contact me and I will help you rehome them to the best of my ability. I am always available to answer questions and give advice.

That being said the fees have changed and rates are as follows:

Female rats under 4 months old are $20 each or $35 for a pair

Male rats under 4 months old are $20 each or $35 for a pair

All rats over 4 months old are $15 each or $20 for a pair

Rates are subject to change at anytime at my discretion and may increase for rats from lines that I have put more work into. If rates differ from those listed above it will be noted with the picture of the adoptable rat.

Health Guarantee

My rats have a 14 day health guarantee that covers all illnesses that are not related to poor nutrition, poisoning, or unhygienic environment. It also covers any genetic health issues outside of tumors. Tumors are very common in pet rats. While at this time I have not had any tumors appear in rats from my lines, it is just something that can't be guaranteed.

My health guarantee does not cover parasites such as mites or lice or fungal skin infections such as ringworm unless they are found within the first 24 hours. When you adopt any animal it is your responsibility to look the animal over at the time of pickup for any signs of illness or infestation. That being said I am more than happy to give you information on treatments should you encounter parasites. I guarantee that at the time of adoption your new pets will be free of parasites, fungal infections, and wounds. That leads me to another thing. The health guarantee does not cover injuries of any kind. I will not adopt out rats with injuries and again as the adopter it is your responsibility to check over any animal that you are adopting for injuries before taking them home. When utilizing the health guarantee you have a couple of options. You may return the rat in exchange for a comparable replacement rat as soon as one becomes available, return the rat for a full refund of the adoption fee, or allow me to take the rat, treat the illness or seek treatment when necessary from my veterinarian and return the rat to you once the health problem has been taken care of. In some rare cases treating the rat may not be an option and in that case you would be entitled to a refund or exchange of your choosing.

Pregnancy and Gender Guarantee

I guarantee that any female rat you adopt from me will not be pregnant. I also guarantee that the rat will be the gender you requested. I keep my rats separated by gender from 5 weeks old. I have never experienced an accidental pregnancy. All rats are kept in DCN cages separated by sex. The sexes are kept in two separate rooms as well. If a female rat you have adopted from me gives birth within 21 days I will take responsibility of the litter and refund your adoption fee. If any rat you adopted from me turn out to be the wrong gender I will refund the adoption fee and offer a replacement. I will also take responsibility for any resulting litters.

Temperament Guarantee

Should you experience problems with your rat's temperament (rat aggression or biting people where skin is broken) they may be returned to me for a full refund and,  if you choose, a replacement as well. The only stipulation is that the rat is seen by my veterinarian to ensure that it is in sound health, I will reimburse up to $50 for this visit if the rat is found to be in good health in addition to the refunded adoption fee. Rats sometimes act aggressively if they are very ill or in pain but otherwise should never cause injury to people or each other. I breed for good temperament and never rehome rats whose temperaments are in question for any reason. I fully guarantee temperament to the highest standards.

Additional Information

When picking up your rats I am willing to meet in Dayton, South Reno, Gardnerville, Minden, and Carson City, NV.  I may be willing to meet outside of these areas for an additional mileage fee. I always meet in a public place and never allow adopters into my home. This is not only for my family's safety but also because disease can easily wipe out a colony of rats and can be carried in on people's clothes without their knowledge. At the time of pickup please have an appropriate carrier to transport your new rat in. If you need me to supply one I need 24 hours notice and there will be a $10 fee for small rats and $15 fee for larger rats (singles or a pair) for the cost of a critter keeper to take them home in.

I have decorative pedigrees available for my rats if you would like one please let me know  2 days in advance. There will be an additional fee of $5 (framed) for the first copy and $2 for each additional copy. If you would like multiple copies framed I can do that for an additional $2 each as well.
